    About Kimberly Dixon

Kimberly a faith-based counselor located in Lee County, Alabama.

She lives in Auburn with her husband, children and puppy, Scout. Kimberly was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama and she loves the warm, beautiful outdoor life our state offers. The charm and diversity of the Auburn/Opelika area brought her here, but the strong sense of community is what keeps her around. Auburn Athletics doesn’t hurt either! Where most counselors avoid serving in the communities they live in, Kim feels honored to give back to the families she proudly shares the “loveliest village” with.

When she’s not working with clients, Kimberly enjoys hiking and camping with her family. She also enjoys reading and painting as well.

    Kimberly's Story

Prior to starting her journey in to private practice, Kimberly served as a school counselor in grades K-9. She has also served in group homes teaching social skills and providing behavior interventions to abandon, neglected, and abused children. Kimberly’s served with mental health, social services, and in ministry settings.

    Kimberly's Process

Kimberly believes counseling is a collaborative process where she partners with you in the healing process. Most clients begin their journey with a consultation to see if they are a good fit for counseling services. If both Kimberly and the client agree the relationship is a good fit, intake paperwork is completed and submitted through a secure, online portal. The first few sessions are dedicated to processing the presenting problem and building rapport. Clients can choose whether they would like to do therapy in person – at the office or in nature with an Ecotherapy session. Clients can also choose to do a session from home or work with a telehealth or virtual session.

    Kimberly's Education

Kimberly earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of West Alabama in Psychology and Sociology in 2003. After this she spent a year studying Theology at Truett Theological Seminary, at Baylor University. In 2016 she completed her Master’s of Education in Counseling at Auburn University at which time she also became licensed as Nationally Certified Counselor. In 2020 she became certified as a License Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama.

    My Mission

From a very early age my passion has been loving and supporting people right where they are in their journey. My passion for helping others and my strong relational skills made my call to counseling a very natural choice. Counseling provides an opportunity for me share my greatest joy, which is assisting clients in navigating through life’s challenges. I love helping each person I partner with learn to manage stress, overcome challenges and reach a place of fulfilment. During life’s most difficult moments, it is my belief that every person can find an element of peace and hope. I am trained to treat a variety of challenges; however, I am most skilled at addressing anxiety, depression, children and adolescent behavioral problems, grief, divorce, and stress management. I look forward to the opportunity to join you in bringing about positive changes to your life.
